About Me:
Syed Adnan Bukhari is a devoted husband, a proud father of two, and a compassionate community organizer whose life has been defined by service and dedication. With decades of unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community across the U.S., Canada, and beyond, Adnan has become a beacon of hope and leadership for those in need.
Born in Pakistan, with ancestral roots in Bihar, India, Adnan’s early years were shaped by a deep connection to his heritage and an acute awareness of the struggles faced by his people. Despite leaving his homeland at a young age, he carried the pain of his community in his heart—a burden he transformed into purpose. His lifelong mission has been to uplift marginalized groups, particularly the Bihari community living in camps in Bangladesh, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs addressed.
Adnan holds a Master of Science in Environmental Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology and serves as a manager in the New York City government. His professional role reflects his commitment to public service and creating sustainable solutions for a better future. Beyond his career, Adnan extends his impact through active involvement in several philanthropic and advocacy initiatives. He is a board member of the Progressive American Community Empowerment (PACE) and represents Akhuwat, the world’s largest distributor of interest-free loans, in New York, USA.
His leadership journey includes collaborations with organizations like OBAT Helpers, serving as president of one of New York’s oldest Islamic centers, and contributing to numerous political clubs across the U.S. Guided by his passion to unite and empower, Adnan founded Muslim Biharis of America and serves as its first president. With the support of a dedicated and visionary board, the organization stands as a symbol of resilience, cultural preservation, and advocacy.
Adnan’s story is a testament to the transformative power of compassion and service. He is deeply humbled by the numerous awards and citations he has received for his outstanding achievements. However, Adnan believes the ultimate reward for his work will come from God, as he continues striving to make a difference in the lives of ordinary people.
Inspired by the timeless verse —
“Dard-e-dil ke waste paida kiya insan ko, warna ta’at ke liye kuch kam na the farishte”
—He believes humanity is created to serve and care for others. This belief continues to guide his mission of hope, unity, and progress.
